A Review of our Year

This week for homework Mrs Jackson asked us to write a review of our year in Rm 5.  Here are a couple:

This year in Room 5, we have done a lot.  We have done Art and lots of other things like fitness and going on camp.  My favourite thing was going on camp.  We did lots of swimming in the river, Onekawa Pools, bamboo maze and playing lots of games.  For our writing we have been working on postcards.  We all got to make one on the iPads on Lifecards.

I have had a great year.  It's been filled with many opportunities and fun.  I have participated in lots of activities and contributed in lots of service things.
Mrs Jackson has been a great teacher towards my learning.
My class got to know each other well through many activities Mrs Jackson set up.  Camp was so much fun and I could do it all over again.  I got to interact with people I normally don't interact with. It's been such an amazing and exciting year.

Room 5 is a great class, with a nice but stern teacher, Mrs Jackson, who is always taking us out in the middle of Literacy and getting our heart rate up!!
My experience in Room 5 this year has been great and I have enjoyed sport, writing, using the technology, art and theme.
At the start of the year, I was very sad because I had been split up from lots of my besties and I felt like the world had ended.  Now I have made new friends an my besties are still my besties.  It was good getting split up but I hope I'm in their classes next year.  It's been a long year of hard and all worth it work with our share of games and play.  Using the iPads was so cool.  I'm glad I got that opportunity.

Christmas Angels

This morning Alistair's mum came and made angels with us.  We used beads to make them. Some parts were very fiddly and we really had to concentrate.  Some of us found it a challenge to not give up!

Writing Buddies

During writing time, we swap our books with our peers and read their writing.  We are getting better at telling them what they are doing well, and giving them things to work on.  Mrs Jackson is impressed with our conversations.

ICT in Action

This morning, we were busy using all the devices in our class.  Half of us were publishing our Personal Experience stories on the iPad, using apps like Book Creator, Life Cards and Explain Everything, while the other half were researching Aid Agencies as part of our RE work.

Volleyball Coaching

We had our first volleyball session.  We learnt how to create a platform with our arms to hit the ball rather than with our fists or hands.  We also learnt to set.
